Afro Cuban Berlin
Berlin, Germany
The International Cuban Salsa Festival in Berlin.

Afro Cuban Berlin is the October event, and the name states the emphasis. It runs at the Embassade at Alexanderplatz, two connected halls of around 400 square metres each.
Fiesta Elegante built both their festivals around one idea: that Cuban dance should be taught with context and respect, not just as steps. Workshops are paired with theory, on the reasoning that dancing improves when you understand the music, the culture and the history behind it. The programme runs across Cuban styles, from son and Afro-Cuban roots through salsa, timba, reggaeton and fusion.
The social parties are treated as part of the learning rather than as the reward after it: a chance to dance with people from many countries and to practise in a real social setting rather than a club night.
It is aimed at dancers who value clarity and shared experience over spectacle.
