Columbia is the fastest and most acrobatic of the three rumba forms, traditionally danced solo by men, from the rural sugar-mill areas of Matanzas. It is played in 6/8, closer to Afro-Cuban religious rhythms than the other rumbas, and it is a display dance: sharp, competitive, showing off.
